When is the library open?
The library opens from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. without break from Monday to Friday. On Saturday it is open from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. During summer vacation the hours are from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Who can use the library?
Any student, faculty member or staff member of the college can use the library. However, to check out a book you must be a member of the library.

How can I become a member?
Faculty and staff members can apply for membership on a prescribed form. The University ID Cared bears the Library membership Barcode and also used as Library Card.

How many books can I check out and for how long?
Faculty
Professor 20 Books for 3 months
Associate/Assistant Professors 20 Books for 3 months
Lecturers 20 Books for 3 months

Students
Postgraduate 6 Books for 2 weeks
Baccalaureate 6 Books for 2 weeks
A-Level and Intermediate 4 Books for 2 weeks

What action does the library takes to return the overdue books back?
The Library charges a fine of 10 rupee/per day/per volume if a book is returned late.

What happens when someone returns a book late?
A fine begins accruing as soon as the book is overdue. If a Recalled book is not returned by the date requested, borrowing privileges may be suspended.

How do I pay a fine?
The library sends a fine report every month to the Accounts Office. Students pay their fines in the Accounts Office.

What is the policy for periodicals?
Students are allowed to read the periodicals only in the library while the faculty members can borrow these for a week.

Can I photocopy a book ?
Reference books are allowed to be checked out only for photocopying upon request. Photocopy Request Forms are available on the Reference Desk. FCC follows international copyright laws as well as the Govt. of Pakistan Copyright Ordinance, 1962, which apply to photocopying under the Fair Use Clause. Please check the the college policy on photocopying.

What if I lose my library card?
If your ID card is lost or stolen, inform the library staff immediately. If you inform the library staff, they will issue a temporary card to you to continue your borrowing privileges. The Temporary Card would be returned to library when the new University ID Card has been obtained.

How do I renew my books?
To renew a book, please visit the library circulation desk. You must bring the book (s) to be renewed. The staff on duty will reissue the book (s) if no other user has requested them. Overdue books will not be renewed until the fine is paid.

Can someone else checkout books for me?
No one can check out books on someone else’s behalf.

How can I get a book that someone else has checked out?
Books already checked out can be reserved. You can get them reserved by placing a request for the checked-out item with a member of the library staff at the circulation desk.

What happens when someone needs a book I have?
The book requested by another member will not be renewed. The library staff may recall any material issued to any member for certain reasons. If the book is on request, we ask that you wait to check it out again until the person requesting it has been able to use it.

Can someone else returns a book for me?
Yes. Make sure that the fine slip (in case there is overdue fine on the book) is delivered to you along with the book.

What happens if a book is lost?
If a book in your possession is lost, report immediately in writing to the circulation desk so that your overdue fine can be stopped. Verbal reports will not be entertained. A charge will be assessed depending on the value of the book.

What happens if a book is damaged in borrower’s possession?
If the book in your possession is damaged you must report it on paper as you would a lost book. A charge will be assessed as it is for a lost book.

How is “damage” deined?
Using highlighters and pencils for notation, defacing the text, removing pages or plates or any other changes made to the reading material are all considered damage.

Highlighting or pencils for notation are helpful for studies. Why do these acts fall under damage?
We understand the temptation to mark books in order to aid your studying or research. Keep in mind that what might help you will most probably make it difficult for someone else to use the book. You will definitely be asked to replace the book that you have damaged by underlining or highlighting.

What happens if I do not pay my fine?
Your membership will be suspended.
