Awareness Session on Intellectual Property Rights


In order to revive the pledge against violation of copyright laws and piracy of books in the country, the Ewing Memorial Library of Forman Christian College University, in collaboration with renowned Publisher, Oxford University Press (OUP) Lahore, organized an awareness session about Intellectual Property Rights on October 03, 2019.

Oxford University Press displayed their latest publications for the FCC students and faculty members for purchase at discounted rates. A large number of students, faculty members, researchers and scholars from different departments, attended the session.

The Rector, Dr. James Tebbe especially graced this occasion. In his speech, he highlighted the importance of discouraging book piracy. He stressed how Book Piracy is damaging for the authors, the society and country at large. He appreciated the efforts of Oxford University Press in upholding the originality of the books and raising awareness about piracy.

Mr. Faheem Younis, Mr. Yasir Khilji and Mr. Ammar Zaid were the resource persons from Oxford University Press. They conducted the session with a delightfully rendered presentation, synchronized with practical demonstration of Intellectual Property Rights and Book Piracy, followed by Q&A session a Quiz. FCC students enthusiastically participated by asking brilliantly questions about IPR’s and correctly answering the all questions of the Quiz.

Chief Librarian Ms. Bushra Almas Jaswal thanked Dr. James Tebbe for his time despite a busy schedule. She also thanked Oxford University Press team and distributed prizes among the students winning the quiz competition.
