EML visits 29th Lahore International Book Fair

The 29th Lahore International Book Fair was held at the Expo Center, Johar Town Lahore, from 5 to 9 February 2015. More than 50 renowned booksellers from Lahore and Karachi displayed their best and newest stock of local and imported books, on their stalls.

The Ewing Memorial Library arranged special bus service for FCC’s faculty members and students, on 6 and 9 February 2015, for visiting the Lahore Book Fair.

This being a good opportunity to physically review and select new books for the Library Collection, as well as to purchase books on discounted prices, 35 to 50 faculty members as well as students accompanied the EML staff to the Expo Center.

The Ewing Memorial Library staff provided special assistance to the faculty members for working with the booksellers and assisted them in preparing lists of selected books and collecting them from the stalls.

This initiative was highly enjoyed and appreciated by the participants of the event. Dr Wasiq Hussain, Dean of Information Technology and Professor of Mathematics particularly found it so useful that he joined the Book Purchase and Selection Expedition on both days. He congratulated Chief Librarian, Ms Bushra Jaswal, and the EML staff  for “these successful and wonderful trips”. “This was a very good initiative. I visited on both days with the EML staff members and managed to increase my personal collection of books as well with discounted prices. I hope such activities will continue in the future to make our Library Collection up to date,” he said.

He happily added, “We managed to select nearly 50 useful books in different subjects (including bio-Informatics) from different vendors including Pak Book Corporation, Paramount, Multiline, Allied Books, and Oxford.”
