On 30 April 2015, the Ewing Memorial Library launched its new website (http://library.fccollege.edu.pk/) to commemorate the World Book and Copyright Day.
The event started with an awareness walk from Ahmad Saeed Administration Building. Among the attendees were Vice Rector, Dr Joseph Jones; Vice Rector Intermediate, Dr Cusrow Dubash; Dr Arifa Syeda Zahra, and a large number of students. Dr Jones talked to the participants about the importance of books and reading. Chief Librarian, Ms Bushra Jaswal talked about the background and importance of the World Book and Copyright Day and the help available at the EML for proper citation.
The attendees walked to the EML where Dr Jones and Ms Jaswal released a replica of the new website banner, tied to a bunch of colorful balloons in the air to symbolically portray the launch of the website. The event was followed by a detailed briefing of the website content and the new features added to it, including the search feature for All HEC Databases and All Print, Electronic and Online Books from a single search field on the Library Home Page.
The new homepage welcomes visitors with a user-friendly design, sliding images and top-bar buttons featured content centered on the Library’s mission to inspire lifelong learning, advance knowledge, and strengthen FCC communities through Library services. The website, created by the Library’s in-house staff, embodies the Library’s forward–thinking vision and commitment to the growing needs of its patrons. There were tutorials, souvenirs, snacks and a nerd photo booth. Faculty members and students enjoyed the day-long activities.
