One-week extensive VIRTUA Training Workshop was organized for FCC Librarians from 4 to 8 November 2013 at FCC Information Commons. This workshop was organized by Chief Librarian Ms Bushra A Jaswal under her continuing Education and Professional Development Program for Librarians working at FCC Libraries. The training comprised five daylong hands-on training sessions on Acquisitions, Cataloging, Circulation, Serials Control and Software Administration Modules of the new version of VIRTUA Library Management Software, used in FCC Libraries.
Mr Atif Khan from Synergy Computers (Pvt) Ltd Islamabad was the resource person and the participants included Ms Bushra Jaswal, Mr Farrukh Shahzad, Mr Fakhar Abbas Hashmi, Ms Madiha Asghar, Ms Mehreen Tahir, Mr Raheel Anwar and Mr Muhammad Naveed. The workshop was highly valuable for both the senior librarians as well as the new entrants among professional library staff, to successfully and confidently conduct the routine and administrative level library operations under their control.
The workshop ended with a formal closing hi-tea. FCC Rector Dr James A Tebbe and Vice Rector, Dr Sufian Aslam honored the occasion as special guests. They appreciated the initiative and congratulated the workshop participants for the successful completion of the workshop.
