Unlimited campus-wide access to the 86 titles of Oxford Handbooks Online is now available to FCC Faculty and students, through a Mellon Grant-funded purchase for AMICAL Member Institutions!
Oxford Handbooks Online (OHO), the home of scholarly research reviews, is an outstanding collection of the best Handbooks in 14 subject areas. The collection of Oxford Handbooks is one of the most prestigious and successful strands of Oxford’s scholarly publishing, containing in-depth, high-level articles by scholars at the top of their field.
Ewing Memorial Library has coordinated access to Oxford Handbooks Online, as Member of the AMICAL Consortium, as part of AMICAL’s 2013-2015 grant from the Mellon Foundation for purchasing electronic books in humanities disciplines to support the liberal arts at AMICAL institutions.
This purchase has given all AMICAL members — Full, Affiliate and Consortial Partner Institutions – access to the Handbooks titles, published in the past six years, that compose three of the Oxford Handbooks Online packages in (Literature, Classical Studies, and History). 86 E-Books from Oxford Handbooks Online in 3 packages; Literature, Classical Studies and History have been purchased by the AMICAL Consortium for its Member Institutions.
OHO brings together the world’s leading scholars to discuss research and the latest thinking on a range of major topics. Each Handbook offers thorough introductions to topics and a critical survey of the current state of scholarship in a particular field of study, creating an original conception of the field and setting the agenda for new research. The articles review the key issues and major debates, and provide an original argument for how those debates might evolve.
